The annual Thanksgiving grocery distribution was held earlier today and was a big success! The weather was great, and everyone who came today received 3 plus tote bags of food and a Hannaford’s gift card for a turkey.
101 families registered for the event and the volunteers were very busy earlier today distributing the grocery bags to the families in need. We could not have served so many people without everyone’s support.
A big thank you goes out to:
- The Ossipee Valley Rotary Club and Hannaford’s Ossipee store for their support from their annual “Stuff the Truck” food drive. Last Friday and Saturday, a U-Haul moving truck was filled with 160 plus boxes of food which was distributed to 4 local food pantries including ours just in time for Thanksgiving.
- The volunteers from the Conway Area Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus Council 7575 for their help in filling and distributing the grocery bags to many families.
- Sgt. J. Martin of the Madison Police Department for directing traffic on Conway Road and keeping things safe for everyone.
- Varsity Beverage for donating all of the soft drinks and cases of water.
- The NH Food Bank for providing us with a large quantity of meats, canned goods, and produce.
- Walmart and Hannaford’s grocery store for donating the very nice reusable grocery bags.
- The many members of our local community that have donated both food and funds to the pantry which enabled us to purchase needed food items and the Hannaford’s gift cards.
- The Madison Church and Food Pantry volunteers who put in many hours of their time preparing for today by setting up tables, moving many boxes of food, filling food bags and distributing the bags and then cleaning up at the end of a long day.
- US Senator Maggie Hassan for her hard work loading bags of food into cars and her ongoing support for community programs like the food pantry.
- Angel Bean from the Tri-County Community Action Program in Tamworth for setting up her Tri-Cap information table and then meeting with the families today to discuss other available resources such as the Low-Income Fuel Assistance Program.
